There’s a great divide deep in the galaxy. On one side is a cliff so tall you cannot scale it, and it’s called How Are They Going to Perceive Me? Way over on the other side is a second cliff, and that one is called What Do I Actually Want?
- How Are They Going to Perceive Me?
- What Do I Actually Want?
I have stood on both of those cliffs. I have also spent a whole lot of my life in the abyss between them, where you can see the other side just fine and have no fucking idea how to get your body over there.
You know the abyss if you’ve ever rewritten a text 4 times so that nobody could possibly take it wrong.
Or explained a boundary so thoroughly that by the end it wasn’t a boundary anymore.
Or wanted something so badly you could taste it, and said nothing, because saying it out loud would tell people something about you.
My love, I made this to help you get across.
Let’s talk about that word
If the name made you flinch, good. Stay with me for 2 minutes.
A whore, if we’re being literal about it, is a woman who makes her availability visible on purpose and puts it into some kind of exchange. She’s not hiding it. She decides what’s on offer, who gets it, on what terms, and what it’s worth to her. Being wanted doesn’t take her agency away. Being seen doesn’t make her available.
An attention whore does that exact thing with attention. She lets herself be visible on purpose, because attention turns into connection and work and money and intimacy and influence and belonging. And she’s done pretending it just sort of happened to her.
You don’t have to already be her. You get to show up as a traveler. That’s who I wrote this for.
Where we’re going
8 audio episodes, with more to come. One journey in order.
This is not a course you sit through. It’s old-time radio.
It’s storytelling with a score, like the shows people used to pull a chair up to the radio for and listen to in the dark. And halfway through every single episode, the story stops for a swing and burlesque interlude. Then every episode goes out on another one.
Because I am not about to spend 20 minutes telling you how good it feels to be looked at and then leave you sitting there in silence. Absolutely not.
- The Great Divide Two cliffs, one abyss, and taking back a word that’s been thrown at women for the crime of wanting to be looked at.
- The Garden Eve wanted what she was told not to want. Lilith refused what she was told to accept. Both got labeled dangerous. Here’s why your wanting is information, not an instruction.
- The Department of Female Appetite Management A fully staffed, 24/7 operation dedicated to keeping your appetite somebody else’s business. You’ve met its employees. Babe, you may have worked there.
- The Land of the Witnesses Every single person who perceives you, and how they got so much authority over your life when the only qualification for the job is having eyeballs.
- The Great Myth of Being Correctly Perceived That belief that if you just explain yourself well enough, they’ll finally get you right. We’re taking it out back and burning it.
- The Black Hole of Misperception What to actually do when somebody gets you spectacularly wrong. Spoiler: rearranging their insides is not a service you’re able to offer.
- The Planet of Truth The fun one. Attention feels good, and that’s the entire confession. I wanted to be prom queen at 41. I wore the tiara. I won. And no, I’m not going to dig up a childhood wound to explain why I loved it.
- The Territory of the Exchange There’s a customs checkpoint here, and you don’t get through it until you answer one question: what are you hoping to get out of being seen? Say “oh nothing, I just want to help people” and they’ll put you right back on the ship.
MORE RECORDINGS WILL BE ADDED, AND YOU’LL GET THEM AUTOMATICALLY.
What this is
- A private audio series you listen to at whatever pace your body wants
- No worksheets, no modules, no homework. Nothing to complete
- Yours to keep forever
What this is not
- A confidence course. You are not broken, and I am not here to fix you.
- A visibility strategy. No hooks, no posting schedule, no personal brand.
- A promise that nobody will ever misunderstand you again. They absolutely will. That’s episode 6.
The witnesses have a vantage point. You have a whole ass life. Please do not confuse the two.
Already in ATTENTION WHORE, my group mentorship? The Guide is included, so no need to buy it here.
