Animal Body, Soul Body & Embodying the Matriarch
The Matriarch Bundle
For when you got free, and now you’re asking, what am I going to devote myself to?
Freedom tells us what we’re free from. A matriarch asks, what are we free for?
Name your price, $37 to $67 · suggested $57
You’ve done so much of the work. You know exactly why your body learned to scan for danger, brace for impact, chase connection, appease, over-explain, and collapse when no one comes. The reasons are real, and the adaptations are brilliant.
And you’re more liberated than you’ve ever been. You’re free from overfunctioning. You’re free from people pleasing and overexplaining yourself, and maybe from a toxic relationship too. Cool. So now what?
You can be free and still not be fulfilled. We’re more connected than any humans in history, and people are more alone than ever. The number one question I get, anytime I talk about community, is I don’t know how to find my people. And we have the internet that fucking connects us to everything and everyone, all at the same time.
Now that I’m free, what will I devote myself to? What is mine to tend?
Why getting free hasn’t answered the question
Our healing journeys heavily emphasize personal liberation, and I’m so on board with that. We want to be liberated from our symptoms, from our trauma and our triggers, from toxic relationships, from our own bullshit.
But modern culture treats identity as the highest achievement. Become your authentic self, know yourself, express yourself, find yourself, optimize yourself, heal yourself. We’re taught to ask what do I want, what do I need, and what is best for me. I was never taught to ask anything else.
Liberation is really the beginning of the journey. Once you’ve found your voice, what wisdom are you going to speak?
What you actually want
You want people. You want a village you can lean on, and you want to be a woman others can lean on without abandoning yourself. And you want to know what’s actually yours to tend, so you can hold a sustainable amount of responsibility you willingly consent to.
These are the questions I keep sitting with. What kind of woman am I growing into? What would it mean to become a woman I trust with power? What role am I being called to play in my community? And my favorite question of all:
What kind of elder am I becoming?
What this bundle gives you
These 3 build on each other. ANIMAL BODY is where you meet the part of you that learned to survive, the part that is ancient, blunt, and loyal to survival only. SOUL BODY is where you meet the truth that’s been pressing on the inside of you for years. And EMBODYING THE MATRIARCH asks the question the other 2 have been leading you toward: now that you’re more free, what will you steward?
The immersions are one audio transmission a day for 10 days, like a private podcast.

She knows where the water is
An elephant herd is led by its oldest female. She probably isn’t even fertile anymore. She leads because she has more memory than anyone else in the herd. There was a drought 20 years ago and she knew where the water was then, so she knows where to find it now. She knows the migration routes, and where the lions hang out, and where the herd’s dead are.
Research has shown that herds led by older matriarchs are more likely to survive environmental challenges and stay calmer during stress. The value of the elder is her memory, and a seasoned nervous system that has seen a lot and survived a lot. When I imagine being the woman who can say to her village in a drought, you guys, I know where the water is, I get chills all over.
I know a ton about finding medicinal plants in the forest, and I make David stop the four-wheeler so I can show him the difference between bird’s foot and yellow hawkweed. If I never share that with anyone, it dies with me. That’s ancestral memory.
The circle and the triangle
Apparently you can’t talk about matriarchy on the internet without people losing their minds, so here it is in shapes. Patriarchy is a triangle, with the people in power at the top. Matriarchy is a circle. Matriarchal power is stewardship and tending. Patriarchal power is domination and control.
Patriarchy asks who’s in charge, who wins, and who gets the most. A matriarch asks, does life continue and thrive? Success means the health of the relationships, the health of the village, the health of the land, the health of the water. And there is a seat at the table for everyone, including men.
A steward tends her own threads
Stewardship is the understanding that something has been entrusted to your care, but it doesn’t belong to you. A steward tends, protects, preserves, and improves what has been placed in her care, so that it flourishes long after she’s gone.
I think overfunctioning is stewardship that has been mutated, disembodied, and tainted by the patriarchy. A healthy steward tends the threads that have been entrusted to her. You can’t tend the whole web by yourself.
None of this arrives with age
Adulthood and elderhood are different things. An elder transforms her life experience into wisdom and shares it. No one wakes up at 65 and suddenly has a bunch of wisdom. We become the person we have been practicing for decades.
A matriarch can feel grief without collapsing. She can be angry without being destructive. She can feel uncertainty without the urgency to solve it. She can feel joy without believing the other shoe is gonna drop any minute now. And she can feel fear without allowing it to make all of her decisions.
That’s capacity. Your nervous system can hold it without collapse and without overwhelm, and that’s the work ANIMAL BODY and SOUL BODY start.
Where this workshop came from
While I was writing ANIMAL BODY, I was studying matriarchal animal societies, and I got really on it.
The other place it came from is my own village of fewer than 150 people, which split apart in the summer of 2024 and is no closer to repair. Literally none of the elders in our community stepped up and said, hey, our village needs to stay in integrity while we go through this. And I’ve deconstructed my overfunctioning enough to know I cannot take that on alone. I’m 43, and age doesn’t equal elderhood. I’m coming at this from curiosity, as a woman who knows she’s growing into something.
What changes
Someone you love messes up, and you can hold both halves at the same time: I understand why you behaved that way, and you still need to take responsibility. Someone else’s tears or anger or disagreement stops being an emergency in your body. You tell difficult truths without humiliating or shaming anybody, and you expect repair.
And you stop waiting to be chosen or invited. You go where people gather around something you already care about, you go more than once, and you’re the first one to invite someone for coffee. You host, you repair, you tend the web. And decades from now, your friends and neighbors bring their conflicts to you, because they trust your steadiness.
