Hi, I’m Lindsey — a trauma educator, nervous system coach, podcast host, and person with a whole lotta lived experience tapering psych meds, including benzos.
In 2019, when I decided I wanted to start my very first psych drug taper, I had zero information or knowledge of what I was doing. I only knew I was terrified of coming off my meds too quickly and having uncomfortable, maybe even unbearable, withdrawal symptoms.
Back in those days, I scoured Google, Facebook support groups, and Reddit threads, searching for information on HOW to go about a slow taper of my meds.
While I found what I was looking for, I also found a LOT of horror stories, bad advice, and physicians who were unsupportive of their patients’ desires to slowly taper their medications.
In SOVEREIGN TAPER, I’m sharing EVERYTHING I have learned through 5 different medication tapers, including…
- my story and personal experience with psych meds
- why it’s so, so important to go slowly — probably slower than you think you should — to give your body and brain time to gently adjust to reduced dosages
- when are great times to begin your taper (and not-so-great times)
- the most important forms of self-care during and after your taper
- what sovereignty means when it comes to taking your healthcare into your own hands
- how to advocate for yourself with your healthcare providers to get what you want, which is: their support for the duration of your psych med taper, no matter how long it takes
- what to have in place to set you up for a successful taper
- why the typical advice of “cut 25% of your dose per week so you’re off in 4 weeks” is total bullshit and actually harmful
- noticing judgment or stories you might have about being on meds that could be driving your desire to get off of them for reasons based on trauma instead of sovereignty
- how to micro-taper any psych drug so you can reduce by minuscule amounts to mitigate or even eliminate withdrawal symptoms — including ratios for specific meds
- getting through withdrawal symptoms
- Q&A time at the end of the workshop so you can ask all your questions

SOVEREIGN TAPER is FOR you if…
- you are ready to take complete responsibility and control over your taper process
- you believe you deserve to taper when and how you choose and go at your own pace
- you want to learn self-advocacy so you aren’t intimidated by or rushed through your doctor’s appointments
- you’d like to be able to have an educated conversation with your prescribing physician
- you’re already aware of your nervous system, have worked on healing your NS, and have created some resiliency and capacity in your body to handle a slow, gentle medication taper
- you are committed to the self-care and nourishment required to get through a taper
SOVEREIGN TAPER is NOT for you if…
- you are brand-new to the world of the nervous system and trauma healing and have not started your personal healing journey yet or have just started it
- you have patterns of addiction with your meds, such as taking more than prescribed, lying about how much you take, and using medication to avoid feeling your feelings (please note: chemical dependency on a medication is NOT the same as addiction)
- you are totally submitted to your doctor and will do whatever they say without question
- you are not ready and willing to accept all responsibility for tapering at your own pace, including potential withdrawal symptoms you may experience
FAQs
Why is Lindsey qualified to teach a workshop about psych drugs if she isn’t a licensed medical professional?
I am sharing my own lived experience of going through multiple medication tapers. I realize that this is a very risky topic to teach about as a non-licensed layperson. It is not illegal to share my own personal story and things I found along the way that were supportive of my tapering processes.
In order to participate in this workshop, you must sign a Release of Liability. As a sovereign person, you must take full responsibility for what you choose to do with the information presented in this workshop. I recommend that you take this information and discuss it with your healthcare provider.
What if I can’t attend the live workshop?
It’s ok if you can’t make it live! I totally understand that time zones, work schedules, kids, and other variables are present in your life that may make it difficult or impossible for you to participate in the live workshop. This is why your ticket purchase includes lifetime access to the replay and all my slides. You will also receive lifetime access to Andi’s Bonus Workshop, even if you cannot attend live.
I am a coach/therapist who works with clients on psych meds. Will this workshop be helpful to my practice?
Yes! If you are working with people with trauma and dysregulated nervous systems, chances are some of your clients are on psych drugs. And, at a certain point in your work together, your clients may decide to reduce or eliminate their medication. Unless you have a medical license, you can’t give them medical advice, but you can share with them what you learn in this workshop and instruct them to talk to their healthcare providers about it.
