Community: a Part Seeking a Whole

I’ll be the first to admit: I am fascinated by Human Design but know almost nothing about it. Thankfully, I have a good friend who is a Human Design Practitioner, and she has helped me understand myself more through HD.

In a Human Design chart, there are lots of numbers and gates and channels. When 2 gates connect together, it’s called a complete channel.

Most people have multiple complete channels in their Human Design charts.

Me? I have just one.

It’s Channel 37-40: the Channel of Community.

When I look back on my life and relationships (or lack thereof), so much of my hurt, seeking, and healing has revolved around finding my people — people who love me in all my messy, human glory and who aren’t going to abandon me because I’m not perfect.

The 37-40 channel is also called the Tribal Spirituality channel. Quite literally, I am here to build spiritual community.

I have been actively seeking to build online community off social media since 2020.

My first attempt was in early 2021; it was called the Trauma Healers Circle and it was open to anyone who wanted to join it. I kept this community going for 18 months, but it never felt solid, ya know?

I discontinued the Circle in July of 2022, but the desire to co-create and build an online community never left me.

As I went through my own initiation of creating Feel Without Fear, I realized that the missing magic piece was that I don’t want *just anyone* in my spaces.

I desire to share space with people who’ve gone through stuff together — because going through stuff together is what builds community in the first place!

 

You and me and all the other FWF students have *gone through something* TOGETHER.

We’ve witnessed each other, held space for each other, and created this beautiful, vulnerable space together.

We’ve given each other the very thing I have sought my entire life and have cultivated in my offline community — the gift of being seen and loved for exactly who we are and where we’re at right now.

We’ve shown one another some really vulnerable parts, maybe parts no one else has ever seen. We’ve shared tender moments and have uncovered deep truths about ourselves.

We did it together, as a community!

There’s an indescribable sacredness, a deeply rooted sense of, “We haven’t met in person, but I see you and know you and love you and accept you. I am learning from you and you are learning from me. We mirror each other.”
